The commercial, called ‘Express Yourself’, does this by showcasing the more relaxing elements of travelling by train, and contains backing music from Labrinth.

TBWA\Manchester planned the media revamp with MEC Manchester, and will also deliver radio commercials, local press adverts, and digital outdoor displays for the train operator.

The head of marketing at First TransPennine Express, Caroline Anchor, said: “TBWA\Manchester have been integral in establishing our brand personality over the past few years and Express Yourself is an exciting step forward for us, capturing all of the key benefits of train travel in a fun and humorous way.”

The TV advert, which went live this week, includes TBWA\Manchester’s animated characters. The characters are created using CGI technology, and have become the brand’s trademark.

The CEO at TBWA\Manchester, Fergus McCallum, commented: “We know from research that the benefits we’ve featured are genuinely motivating to consumers. Our challenge was to highlight those benefits in an engaging way, and in an unmistakably FTPE way. Supporting the brand campaign with tactical messages in press and radio gives us the opportunity to accentuate those benefits with real reasons to believe.”
